I build dynamic, colorful mixed-media sculptures by intertwining craft tradition, organic matter, and salvaged, domestic objects. Guided by a new materialist perspective, I treat materials as active collaborators with distinct histories and agencies. I draw from the feminine power and possibility inherent in repetition and recontextualization while exploring themes of ecological circularity and systemic balance with humor, playfulness, and warmth.

Colleen Louise Barry (b. 1988) is a Seattle-based multidisciplinary artist, writer, and educator. She has exhibited widely at institutions including MOCA LA, the Seattle Art Museum, The Hedreen Gallery, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. She is the author of the poetry collection Colleen (After Hours Editions, 2022) and previously directed the independent publishing and curatorial project Mount Analogue. A former member of the SOIL artist cooperative, Barry was a 2025 Recology King County Artist-in-Residence, is a current Artist-in-Residence at Actualize, and a co-recipient of the 2026 Stranger Genius Award for Visual Art. She holds an MFA in Poetry from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and currently teaches art classes for students of all ages, guiding them to build joy and confidence through their own artistic practices.
